The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has called
on Nigerians to desist from panic buying of Premium Motor Spirit
(PMS), also known as fuel, stating that it has about 23 days of
product supply in all its depots across the country.
Reacting to the resurgence of fuel queues in some cities across the
country, the NNPC, in a statement by Mr. Ohi Alegbe, Group
General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, stated that its
depots have about 927.461 million litres of PMS which is enough
to serve the country for the next 23 days if no drop of the
product is imported within the period.
The NNPC blamed the resurgence of queues at petrol filling
stations on rumour of an impending scarcity, a$$uring that it has
enough products to meet the demand of the country.
It also warned oil marketers not to engage in sharp practices,
stating that anyone found wanting would be dealt with decisively.

thoughts go to the victims and families.”

Woman arrested for trying to sell a one week old baby in Lagos

A 25-year-old mother of four, Nkechi Obi, who tried to sell a one-week-old baby boy, who was stolen in Onitsha, Anambra State, to a barren woman in Lagos, has been arrested.
The suspect, who claimed to be a farmer and an apprentice in Onitsha, said she was on her way to hand over the baby to the buyer at Cele Bus Stop, along the Oshodi/Apapa Express-way, when she was arrested.
It was gathered that the baby was stolen from his biological mother, who ran away from home when she found out she was pregnant.

Trouble started for the suspect after the driver of the vehicle she chartered from Asaba, Delta State, became suspicious when he observed that even though the baby cried uncontrollably throughout the 6 hour journey to Lagos, the suspect never breastfed the baby. When he asked her about his observation, she gave some unsatisfactory explanation, the driver who didn't believe her explanation, was said to have stopped at Oshodi, where he alerted some policemen who proceeded to interrogate Obi. It was during that process that they discovered that the baby was not hers.

She claimed that the baby was given to her by her boss, whose identity she gave simply as Ngozi.

She said:

“I was in the shop located at 2 Ourline Street, Onitsha Main Market on Tuesday, when my madam, who I sell clothes for, came and ordered me to go and change into something better, that I was to embark on a journey to Lagos.

“Thereafter, she handed the baby to me and gave me a food flask and baby milk. She only gave me the telephone number of the woman I was to hand the baby over to. The woman in question is barren. I was to meet with her at Cele Bus Stop. The would-be buyer was arrested.”

It was reported that the would-be buyer had two female children, but opted to adopt a male child due to pressure from her husband who threatened to marry another woman.
When asked if her Husband was aware of her intentions, she said:

She said: “I got married aged 16 years to Polycap Eze, who had no child from his wife. I was brought in to bear children for them. After the birth of my fourth child, he drove me out of the house, saying I have fulfilled the purpose for which he married me.

“I moved in with one of my relatives who later introduced me to my madam.”

Speaking on her arrest, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni said:

“She claimed at first that her lover abandoned her with the baby. Later, she confessed that her aunt was a co-suspect. Two other persons, who have connection with the sale of the one-week-old baby, were also arrested.

“We have kept the baby in proper custody through the Family Support Unit. Further investigation into the case has taken us to the eastern part of the country where the principal suspect lives.

“But she fled on hearing that we have arrested Nkechi Obi. We will ensure that everyone behind this case is arrested.”

British jet with 189 passengers on board dodged missile while approaching Sharm El Sheikh

A Thomson flight carrying 189 passengers had to dodge
a rocket as it approached Sharm El Sheikh, it has been
reported. The London Stansted flight was said to have
come "within 1,000ft" of the deadly missile and only
avoided it after the pilot took evasive action.
It eventually landed safely and the passengers on board
were not told about the brush with certain death.
The incident came two months before a Russian airliner
crashed after taking off from the Egyptian resort on
Saturday killing all 224 on board.
It is thought a bomb planted by terror group Islamic
State is the most likely cause of the tragedy prompting
the UK to suspend all commercial flights to and from the
resort on Wednesday.
The Department for Transport has confirmed the incident
involving the British jet which happened on August 23.
A source said: "The first officer was in charge at the time
but the pilot was in the cockpit and saw the rocket
coming towards the plane.
"He ordered that the flight turn to the left to avoid
the rocket, which was about 1,000ft away,"
reports Mail Online.
It is thought the five members of cabin crew only found
out about the incident after landing and were offered the
chance to stay the night in Egypt.
However they are said to have chosen to head straight
back to the UK.
The source added that the missile that nearly struck the
Thomson jet was also spotted by another of the carrier’s
planes as it approached Sharm El Sheikh.
It is reported they were told the rocket was from an
Egyptian military exercise but now think otherwise
following Saturday's incident.

4 Members Of A Family Die In Fatal Accident In Benue (Graphic Photos)

4 members of a family lost their lives yesterday in a
fatal accident along the Abakwa, Buruku local
government area of Benue state. The accident
involved an 18-seater commercial bus that collided
with a motorcycle carrying the deceased persons
which comprised of a man, his wife and two
brothers. They all died on the spot, while a few pa
$$engers in the bus, including the driver,
sustained serious injuries. The deceased were
returning from the burial of a family member when
they met their untimely death

13 month old Nyalou Thong is the 2nd person that
survived the Australian cargo plane that crashed in
White Nile river near Jabu International Airport, South
Sudan on Wednesday Nov. 4th. Nyalou lost her mother
and sister who she was traveling with. She and a middle
aged man who held on to her during the crash are the
only survivors of the crash. 39 people perished in the
crash. Nyalou suffered a broken leg and is currently in a
hospital where she is receiving treatment. More pics

A final year marketing student of mapoly was
gunned down by suspected cult members at Iyana
Oluwo today.
The deceased who is nicknamed ‘n!gga’ and real
name is unknown as of the time of the incident
died instantly.
He was said to be signing out after his final papers
today when the ill fated incident occured.
According to eye witnesses, he might also belong
as eye witnesses claimed he had a yellow
handkerchief with him

Speaking to newsmen yesterday, CBN spokesman
Ibrahim Muazu said the deadline was just to
achieve a primary aim of creating more awareness
about the exercise.
“Deadline was successful because the awareness
has been created to millions of customers and the
banking hall were empty unlike the June deadline
where there were chaos everywhere in the banking
halls,” he said.
He added that people that hadn’t registered would
now lose access to their bank accounts until they
did.

used to be 42 ministers, I think we will be lucky
if we can have half of that now because we
cannot afford it.Others may not be substantive
ministers but they will sit in the cabinet because
that is what the constitution says and we cannot
operate outside the constitution.”
When asked whether he will reduce the number of
ministers, Buhari said,
“Of course! Unless you can volunteer to be
paying them (ministers).”
On the criteria used in compiling his ministerial
nominees, the President explained
“I have just talked about Nigerians, especially the
elite, sitting and reflecting on serious national
issues.“How many times did I attempt to be the
President of Nigeria? How many times did I end
up in the Supreme Court? Does is it mean every
time, I don’t know people in this country?I know
people who we were going together but fell by
the wayside because it was too tough. You know
I contested in 2003, 2007, 2011. I think Nigerians
should stop taking things for granted as far as
we are concerned,” he said.
When the President was asked to react to the claim
that his administration is slow in the development
of infrastructure, Buhari said
“Where is the money? You must have known that
the Federal Government had to help 27 of the 36
states to pay salaries.
“Nigeria cannot pay salaries. The Federal
Government itself had to summon the governor of
the Central Bank to see how it would pay salaries
not to talk of the agreements we signed with
foreign countries, counterpart funding and so on.
“This country was materially vandalised and
mor*lly so and you are in a position to know
even more than myself unless you are testing my
knowledge whether I know it or not.”
When asked to be categorical on whether the
country is broke, Buhari replied,
“Of course, Nigeria is broke.”

POWER BIKE which they have named EBS ONE.
This team of Mechanical Engineering Students
comprises of ONYEBUCHI CHINONSO, OVOKE PAUL,
CHIKA PAUL, UDORA EDISON, NWAFOR PAULING,
and from the department of Electrical Engineering
VICTOR IKEH TOCHUKWU .
The project(EBS ONE) has to do with having an
electrical system in place of internal combustion
engine of a motorcycle.
This electrical system comprises mainly of; the
batteries, a DC motor, the gear system, and an
inverter.
The batteries power the motor which in turn moves
the gear to bring about the movement of the rear
wheel. i.e batteries>motor>gear>rear wheel.
The idea of this project is to reduce the
dependence on fuel for motorcycles and reduce
ozone layer depletion by carbon compounds due to
combustion of fuels.
They fabricated their own Chasis(skeleton). It has
the shape of a modern day powerbike.
They also made use of Solidworks
application,Autodesk Inventor and Matlab for
different simulations.Everything involving the
project was done in the school’s workshop.
The power system comprises of a 12Volts 6Amps
battery, an electric motor and some other materials
which were gotten.
Indeed, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka is really
producing qualified and competitive engineers.

Osinbajo off to London to sign Nigeria/UK solar energy agreement

ABUJA – Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo on
Wednesday night left Abuja for London to
participate in the launching of the Energy Africa
Campaign today.
He will be signing a commitment on behalf of
the Federal Government of Nigeria to partner
with the United Kingdom government on the
Campaign.
A statement from his office stated that the
agreement would improve on the power
situation of the country.
The statements reads: “The Nigeria-UK
partnership intends to bring solar power to
millions of homes in Nigeria, using the model
of installation and payment that has worked
effectively in Kenya and Tanzania.”
“Originally an initiative of the UK government,
the partnership involves the governments of
Nigeria and other African nations in an effort to
shorten the time required for universal
electricity delivery, specifically in the continent
where two out of every three persons do not
have electricity in their homes.
“Prof. Osinbajo will speak at the event
alongside the UK Minister of State for
International Development, Mr. Grant Shapps,
MP, former United Nations Secretary-General
Kofi Annan and other leaders from Africa.
“The Vice President who will return to Abuja by
the weekend is accompanied on the trip by
Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai
