speaking to newsmen at the end of the ministerial

we are going to block areas of leakages, retinue
of aides, protocol staff, large convoys of cars are
things that will not fly in this administration" he

ministers will not be assigned portfolio's in his cabinet,
Ngige said
"If you have portfolio, if you don’t have portfolio,
it is one single federal executive council. You
bring whatever it is on the table. That is not a
problem at all. We have the right to discuss
things around the ministries because it is one
single cabinet. The important thing is that we
want to move our people from where they are
now; they are in abject poverty, which concerns
about 75 percent of the populace. So, we need to
actually restructure the political and social
moment of the country and that is what we are
going to do. That means poverty will reduce.”he

they will not renege on their campaign promise of
paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians. This

the senate moving a motion in favor of the bill seeking
for Nigerians to be paid N5,000 allowance on November

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured
Nigerians that it will not renege on its campaign
promise to pay 5,000 Naira each monthly to 25
million most vulnerable Nigerians, while calling
on the citizens to ignore the mischievous attempt
by the PDP to confuse and mislead them on this
issue. In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by
its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, the party said even though the PDP-
led Federal Government plundered the common
wealth in its time, it (APC) has devised creative
means not only to pay the money but also to
fulfill its other campaign promises to Nigerians. It
said the non-implementation of the payment
policy so far is due to the fact that it was not
included in the 2015 budget, which was prepared
by the PDP-led Jonathan Administration, and
also because of the need to first block all
financial leakages. ”Now, the Buhari
administration has been busy putting into place
measures that will make it possible to start the
implementation of this project. Such measures
include the introduction of the Treasury Single
Account (TSA) ”We are happy to inform Nigerians
that as at the end of September 2015, over 1.4
trillion Naira – which hitherto was lying
unproductively in various commercial banks –
has been recovered and paid into the TSA,” APC
said. The party said that in its usual jumpy and
superficial approach to issues, the irresponsible
opposition has already rushed to judgement on
the issue without bothering to hear from the APC,
which made the promise in the first instance.
”Had the PDP not sacrificed the truth on the altar
of political expediency, it would have realized that
the APC never at any time indicated it has
reneged on its promise to pay 5,000 Naira
monthly to 25 million most vulnerable Nigerians.
In our press statement of Aug. 30th 2015, we still
reiterated our plan to redeem our campaign
promises, including the social security payment
policy, despite the primitive looting of the
treasury under the watch of the PDP. ”It is
therefore astonishing that the same PDP, which is
becoming more and more infamous for its
penchant for peddling half truths and
sensationalizing every issue, will rush to the
press to celebrate the figment of its imagination
that the APC will not fulfill its campaign promise
regarding the payment,” it said. The APC said the
Buhari administration is also embarking on a
massive infrastructure renewal programme in the
areas of roads, rail and power, for which a 2.5-
billion-dollar Infrastructure Fund is being put in
place. ”Contrary to the disinformation being
peddled by the PDP, the Buhari administration is
poised to lift millions of Nigerians out of extreme
poverty by providing social protection and safety
nets with another 2.5 trillion Naira Special
Intervention Fund,” the party said.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) draws the attention of Nigerians to the harmful consequences of the unabated negative statements from the very father of the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari, on the economy and the general image of the country.

The party said “it is worrisome that in the last six months, the President, instead of making efforts to harness resources and grow the economy, has rather continued to apply himself, perhaps unwittingly, to demarketing the nation and scaring away investors through negative labeling of Nigerians and unwarranted unhealthy portrayal of the nation’s economy”.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh on Sunday said the President’s unwary statements have become very serious clog in the wheel of progress, eroding the confidence of both domestic and international investors in the Nigerian economic and social system.

“In the last six months, our President has only succeeded in discouraging foreign investors with his continued misrepresentation of our country as a business unfriendly environment, where most of the citizens are basically corrupt, dishonest, and cannot be trusted.

“Whereas we have restated our total support for the war against corruption, we insist that Mr. President’s unceasing blanket negative labeling of citizens, in a country where millions of honest and hardworking individuals/firms are genuinely contributing daily to the development effort, is indeed a disservice and injurious to the nation and the people.

“Furthermore, Mr. President’s recent announcement to the world that the nation, with its abundant human and natural resources, is broke and cannot pay cabinet ministers not only sends a discouraging signal to the domestic and international business community, but also exposes the ineptitude of the present administration to meaningfully and sincerely exert itself and work with industrious and innovative investors to create and manage wealth.

“We ask; how can any reasonable investor still have the confidence to invest in a country where the President himself continues to alert that his country reeks of corrupt people and that the government is broke to the extent it cannot pay cabinet ministers?

“Is the President not directly advising investors against having confidence in Nigeria and the system, and that they risk not being paid for jobs awarded by government at any level?

“More worrisome is the fact that Mr. President most times, makes his damaging comments in international fora with potential investors in attendance to the extent that reminds one of the proverbial father who, in the presence of potential suitors, often portrays his daughters as wayward and yet constantly complain of their inability to find husbands.

“Indeed, this is not the way to go, Nigeria is a country blessed with abundant human and natural resources. What we need at the moment is a serious, innovative and practical approach with the capacity to harness the resources and create wealth for the benefit of all, instead of an apparently laidback scapegoat tactics with outworn excuses and unhelpful comments.

“May we remind Mr. President that even in the darkest period of our economic challenges, successive administrations made efforts in steadying the economy, while always reassuring our citizens and the international community of the strength and economic potentials of our great nation.

“We know that in the desperation to cover its apparent lack of economic plan, this administration has positioned cabinet ministers, upon inauguration to concentrate on diversionary blame game on the past PDP administration. But even this political deceit cannot combat the unpalatable consequences of Mr. President’s damaging utterances on the image of the nation and its economy.

Finally, we wish to remind the President and those around him that Nigerians, by the 2015 elections, have committed the fate of the country in his hands for the next four years and are not willing to accept excuses for any economic failures under his watch.

speeches on corruption by former public officials.
“Nigerians will hear only the truth on the economy
and the state of the nation from President
Muhammadu Buhari”, the Presidency said last
night.
It alleged that the Jonathan-led PDP government
lied to Nigerians on the state of the economy
which was found to be in dire straits contrary to
that government’s claims.
“President Buhari will remain true to the virtues of
honesty, integrity, sincerity, incorruptibility and
plain-speaking which endeared him to Nigerians
and made them prefer his leadership to that of a
lying and deceptive PDP administration.
“The President will not, in the guise of ‘marketing’
the country, refrain from telling Nigerians and the
world, the emerging truths about the abject state in
which years of plundering by a PDP leadership has
left the Nigerian treasury and economy.
“President Buhari will not in the name of
‘marketing’ or ‘attracting’ investors, follow in the
footsteps of the ousted PDP Administration and its
discredited officials who shamelessly lied to
Nigerians and the world about the buoyancy and
vibrancy of an economy they had bled dry for
personal gain, when it was very obvious to the
discerning, that the Nigerian economy was headed
for serious trouble,” Presidential Spokesman Femi
Adesina, said in a statement.
The Presidency condemned PDP spokesman Olisa
Metuh’s statement that the President has been
“demarketing Nigeria “with his public stance on
corruption.
“We restate for the umpteenth time to Mr. Metuh
and his ilk that their attempts to distract President
Buhari from the job he has been elected to do will
fail,” the Presidency said, adding: “It is most
unfortunate that instead of showing some
remorsefulness for the harm done to the nation by
his party, and giving genuine support for President
Buhari’s efforts to salvage and revamp the national
economy, Mr. Metuh persisted in a vain attempt to
remain relevant on the national stage by unjustly
denigrating the President who continued to strive
with all his might to alleviate and reverse the harm
done to the nation by PDP misrule and corruption.”
Mr. Metuh’s antics, the statement said, were futile.
“President Buhari cannot be distracted by a broken
record. If the PDP spokesman ever has serious
matters to bring to our attention, we will be
prepared to listen,” it stated
In his party’s statement Metuh claimed that recent
statements on the state of the economy credited to
President Buhari were capable of harming Nigeria’s
image.
PDP observed that instead of making efforts to
harness resources and grow the economy, Buhari
has continued to scare away investors.
According to the opposition, the President has
continued to apply himself perhaps unwittingly, to
demarketing the nation through negative labelling
of Nigerians and unwarranted unhealthy portrayal
of the economy.
The party added that the President’s “unwary

Rotimi Amaechi confirmed as Minister despite petition against him

The APC senators who remained in the senate after PDP staged a walk out, have confirmed Rotimi Amaechi as a minister of the Federal republic of Nigeria. The senators rejected the recommendation of the Ethics and priviledge committee's which recommended that the Rotimi Amaechi should not be confirmed as Minister because of the corruption charges that he is yet to answer to at the appeal court.

A strong protest from members of the All
Progressive Congress in the Senate on Wednesday
did not stop their colleague from Rivers State from
submitting a petition against the nomination of Mr.
Rotimi Amaechi as minister.
No sooner than the senator representing Rivers East
Senatorial District, George Sekibo, raised a point of
order to submit the petition that the APC senators
kicked by shouting, “no, no, noooooo.”
Despite the APC protest, Senate President Bukola
Saraki asked protesting senators to keep quite and
then asked Sekibo to submit the petition which he
said was from one of his constituents.
